December 2019 Posts

Exactly one year after announcing the production of our Non-Alcoholic Helles for the taproom, we are excited to report that the NA Helles, "Nah", will be available for purchase this week in 6-pack form. You can find it at various liquor stores across the metro, or take some home directly from our taproom in Northeast.

For the past year, we have been working with St. Paul-based upstart ABV Technology on creating this craft, flavor-forward NA beer option for our taproom. The team behind ABV Technology has developed a proprietary, patent-pending process that extracts ethanol from beer in a way that leaves the overall flavor profile mostly intact. The resulting product smells and tastes remarkably similar to the real deal.

A LITTLE BACKSTORY ON "NAH"

Our desire to brew an NA offering was inspired by an unexpected medical diagnosis that our COO Matt Schwandt received in 2017. “Three years after realizing my dream of opening a craft brewery, I was hospitalized for acute pancreatitis, which meant that I had to stop drinking alcohol pretty much for the rest of my life. In the aftermath of that diagnosis, I became more and more interested in exploring whether producing NA beer could be feasible for our brewery. Ironically, the passion that I had for starting a craft brewery sort of morphed into a passion for creating an NA beer!"

BEER STATS

“Nah” is a refreshing non-alcoholic version of a true-to-style Münich Helles. It's brewed with 100% German-grown malt and hops, and features a bready malt flavor and a mild hoppiness with notes of ripe melon and bright berry.

Drink one (or five!) next time you visit us at the Haus, or grab a 6-pack to enjoy at home. Cheers!

INTRODUCING: PLUMSOUL TART ALE

Aloha! Here at Bauhaus, we love the pleasant, refreshing taste of a tart, fruited ale and figured it was about dang time we put one into the market.

This lightly sour ale is fruited with a blend of plum and apricot, delivering a pleasantly fruity acidity and a crisp, dry finish. Plumsoul approximates the fruity flavor of a pluot: a plum/apricot hybrid that doesn’t exhibit sweet flavors when allowed to ferment out in a beer. Fresh, slightly sweet, and pleasantly acidic, Plumsoul is sure to leave you doing the happy-dance of the sugarplum fairies in no time. Available in the taproom NOW and in stores and select bars and restaurants the week of December 16th!

Plumsoul is the final beer in our Over the Charts series. For the past couple years, Over the Charts has been the Bauhaus platform for more limited, experimental brews. However, as we look ahead to our 2020 beer calendar and at the bounty of limited releases, we will be shedding the Over the Charts name as we realize specialty brews have found a permanent place in our brewing approach.
