Hailing from Wisconsin and by way of Mad Tree Brewing of Cincinnati and Steel Toe Brewing, we welcome Mr. Pat Campbell to the Bauhaus family. Just a smidge weird compared to the rest of us, Pat’s an all around great dude who happens to sport a dickie very, very well. Here’s a little Q&A with Pat:
If you had a superpower, what would it be? The ability to eat as much ice cream as I want, whenever I want, and not give myself type 2 diabetes.
What talent would you most like to have? After realizing that almost every single person here at the Haus is much more musically inclined than myself, I would have to go with being able to play a musical instrument.
What do you love most about Minneapolis? The beer culture and community here. It's really amazing how there are so many great breweries here in Minneapolis and how everyone in the industry knows each other and helps each other out from beer collaborations to borrowing canning line parts or yeast. It's just one big community who appreciates beer for all that it is.
Favorite Bauhaus beer? Right this moment Sky-Ten! but Über Düber this year was pretty great too. Then there are Slawhammer and Stargrazer that are my go-to lower ABV beers.
Favorite beer in general? Such a tough question. Blank Slate Brewing Company's Fork in the Road is a beer I don't think I could ever get sick of. Then there is MadTree Brewing's Galaxy High which is a fantastic beer that is aptly named for use of galaxy hops which just so happen to also be my favorite hop variety.Russian River Brewing Company's Consecration is also a favorite.
Favorite Minneapolis restaurant? Pig Ate My Pizza. I just love everything about that place! First time I ever went there my wife and I took part in a "Fender Race" and she beat me handily!
What's the one album that you can't get sick of? I think I'd have to go with Nelly's Country Grammar. I can't tell you how many times that cd was played in my car back in the day.
Describe yourself in three words. Bearded. Brewer. Dad.
This is a big one, Hauslers! We are absolutely thrilled to announce the debut of our brand spankin' new Over the Charts series – entirely new brews that offer a departure from our more sessionable beer styles. Over the Charts releases will be big, kickin’ beers with bold, bodacious flavors.
The first Over the Charts release is Sky-Ten! Double IPA, an awesomely exaggerated version of Bauhaus’ Sky-Five! Midwest Cöast IPA. This beer was always in the back of our minds from the beginning, and we were just waiting to find the right outlet to do. Sky-Ten! has an even more powerful, ambrosial hop cocktail than its tamer sibling. And, at 8.8% ABV, it delivers an even greater warming alcohol presence with a crisp, dry finish. The malt balances the bitterness, making it one of the smoothest 90 IBU beers we've had.
The Over the Charts series speaks to the fact that while we're not necessarily known for brewing beers with big, bold flavors, that doesn't mean we don't love those kinds of beers. We just needed to find the right outlet for some of our more unconventional ideas. That's exactly what Over the Charts is all about. We couldn't think of a better style to kick off this series than a big, Double IPA.”
Sky-Ten! will be rolling out the week of 10/10 in a limited run of super sleek 750 mL bottles at select retailers throughout the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota, as well as in our taproom. Draft pours will be also available in the taproom and at select local bars and restaurants and in fine establishments in limited out-state markets.
Over the Charts kicks open the door to an ongoing series of hefty beers that will live alongside Bauhaus’ existing Seasonal Curiosities and core beer line up. Beer enthusiasts can expect another Over the Charts release around the turn of the year.
Only sight, sound and motion can fully capture the magnificent, warrior power of this unique brew, which is why the Bauhaus creative crew collaborated with longstanding partners Urban Mountain to produce this ridiculous promo vid. Enjoy it while it lasts!
