April 2016 Posts

If you follow us on social media, chances are you're familiar with the way in which we announce new beers and other significant brewery news- through absolutely absurd videos that delight the senses and show off the many creative talents of our staff. If you don't follow us, do yourself the favor of being entertained and check us out on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Instagram.

With the launch of Wonderstuff 12-packs (which will be in liquor stores across the Twin Cities and greater MN the first week of May), we did the thing we know best and wrote a song about it...and then filmed a roller disco music video.

And, for your at-home dance party pleasure, the song is available for streaming and download on Soundcloud:

Wonderstuff is Bauhaus’ decidedly modern take on a classic Bohemian (aka Czech) pilsner. While still as crisp and refreshing as its German counterpart, Bohemian pilsner is regarded by some as the perfect beer given its perfect balance between spicy hops and a rich, complex maltiness. Wonderstuff includes all of the hallmark characteristics of a classic Bohemian pilsner, but includes a healthy dose of new world hop cultivars that give it a powerful citrus twist.

As Northeast Minneapolis starts to buzz with anticipation for one of the best weekends of the year, we are proud to announce plans for our second annual Art-A-Whirl event: The Liquid Zoo - A Celebration of Life, Art, and Beer happening May 20th through the 22nd. Here is a day-by-day breakdown of all the incredible festivities that will be going down.

Friday

Bauhaus will start Art-A-Whirl weekend with a Kickoff Party Spectacular, featuring gravity-defying Haus band, Viva Knievel. With plenty of surprises and shenanigans guaranteed to ensue, a line up of unique casks and radlers will provide the fuel throughout the night, and an expanded patio area will accommodate the crowds. Food provided by Brooks High Beer Battered, Hibachi Daruma, and MidNord Empanadas.

Saturday

Following Friday evening’s festivities, Bauhaus will take over the massive front parking lot to host an all- day concert of epic proportions. Presented by Down in the Valley, In The Groove Music, Copycats Media, and 89.3 The Current, we're pulling out all the stops to ensure a great day of Whirling. Andrea Swennson from the Current will be on site to MC the exceptional line-up which features:

  • Sonny Knight and the Lakers
  • The 4ontheFloor
  • Jeremy Messersmith
  • Bad Bad Hats
  • Black Market Brass
  • Gospel Machine
  • McNasty Brass Band

Additional beer stations will make getting a cold one easy for attendees and the food-spread will be plentiful with Brooks High Beer Battered, Hibachi Daruma, Butcher Salt, O’Cheeze, and Tru Pizza.

Sunday

The weekend culminates on Sunday, May 22nd with a Made By Hands Art & Craft Bazaar from 12pm-6pm. Artists and craftsmen will be selling everything from paintings, jewelry, woodworkings, sweets, knits, ceramics and more. Based on the success of last year, Seawolf Tattoo Company will once again be in-Haus with a pop-up tattoo shop featuring some classic Americana-style beer tattoos created specifically for Art-A-Whirl weekend. Outside the taproom and in the fresh air, a graffiti demo will take place to give the Bauhaus delivery van a colorful facelift. If you need a refresh of your own after this crazy weekend, Bauhaus will have a barber on site to get you looking your Sunday best. DJ Shane Kramer of Transmission Music will be playing an assortment of wax on the tables all day, and Down in the Valley will be bringing a treasure trove of rare and vintage vinyl to get in on the action. Food provided by Butcher Salt and Tru Pizza.

All events are free for all ages, 21+ to drink.

Amigos,

We’re constantly thinking of new ways in which we can get our beautiful brews into your hands and mouths. With that sentiment, we’re super excited to announce two new packaging updates including TALLBOYS of two of our Haus Beers, Wonderstuff Neü Bohemian Pilsner and Sky-Five! Midwest Cöast IPA, and our spankin’ new taproom-only CROWLERS to go.

Tallboys

Baseball is officially back and we’re delivering on a bigger and better craft beer experience at the park for the 2016 season. Last year we joined the craft beer ranks at Target Field alongside the some of Minnesota’s finest craft breweries. This year we are upping the ante by debuting 16oz. tallboys of Wonderstuff Neü Bohemian Pilsner and Sky-Five! Midwest Cöast IPA to the patrons of Target Field. Yep, your math is correct, that’s four extra ounces! That will buy drinkers an extra half-inning before making the trek back to sections 116 (Twins Brews), 126 (Minnesota Brews), and 322 (Minnesota Brews) for their next round.

Beyond the ballpark and just down the block, we’re extending distribution of our tallboys into another Twin Cities cultural hot spot: First Avenue. Starting April 15th, we're introducing 16 oz. cans of Wonderstuff and Sky-Five! to the legendary rock club to support The 4onthefloor's return to the mainroom.

Instead of distributing these tallboy cans in liquor stores alongside the existing 12 oz. 6 packs of these two core beers, we intend on keeping the Wonderstuff / Sky-Five! tallboy experience a special one with limited distribution across certain cultural fixtures.

Crowlers To Go

We unveiled our 750ml crowlers inside our new crowler cooler to thirsty taproom goers last weekend and so far, so awesome. Perfect for when you need 750ml of Bauhaus on the go. All core beers and current seasonal curiosities will be available in crowlboy form in the taproom from this day forward. If this crowler news wasn't enough, we'll also be brewing some tasty taproom-only beers that will be available in these sweet crowlers, starting with our Helles collaboration beer with @fairstatecoop.
