As Northeast Minneapolis starts to buzz with anticipation for one of the best weekends of the year, we are proud to announce plans for our second annual Art-A-Whirl event: The Liquid Zoo - A Celebration of Life, Art, and Beer happening May 20th through the 22nd. Here is a day-by-day breakdown of all the incredible festivities that will be going down.
Bauhaus will start Art-A-Whirl weekend with a Kickoff Party Spectacular, featuring gravity-defying Haus band, Viva Knievel. With plenty of surprises and shenanigans guaranteed to ensue, a line up of unique casks and radlers will provide the fuel throughout the night, and an expanded patio area will accommodate the crowds. Food provided by Brooks High Beer Battered, Hibachi Daruma, and MidNord Empanadas.
Following Friday evening’s festivities, Bauhaus will take over the massive front parking lot to host an all- day concert of epic proportions. Presented by Down in the Valley, In The Groove Music, Copycats Media, and 89.3 The Current, we're pulling out all the stops to ensure a great day of Whirling. Andrea Swennson from the Current will be on site to MC the exceptional line-up which features:
- Sonny Knight and the Lakers
- The 4ontheFloor
- Jeremy Messersmith
- Bad Bad Hats
- Black Market Brass
- Gospel Machine
- McNasty Brass Band
Additional beer stations will make getting a cold one easy for attendees and the food-spread will be plentiful with Brooks High Beer Battered, Hibachi Daruma, Butcher Salt, O’Cheeze, and Tru Pizza.
The weekend culminates on Sunday, May 22nd with a Made By Hands Art & Craft Bazaar from 12pm-6pm. Artists and craftsmen will be selling everything from paintings, jewelry, woodworkings, sweets, knits, ceramics and more. Based on the success of last year, Seawolf Tattoo Company will once again be in-Haus with a pop-up tattoo shop featuring some classic Americana-style beer tattoos created specifically for Art-A-Whirl weekend. Outside the taproom and in the fresh air, a graffiti demo will take place to give the Bauhaus delivery van a colorful facelift. If you need a refresh of your own after this crazy weekend, Bauhaus will have a barber on site to get you looking your Sunday best. DJ Shane Kramer of Transmission Music will be playing an assortment of wax on the tables all day, and Down in the Valley will be bringing a treasure trove of rare and vintage vinyl to get in on the action. Food provided by Butcher Salt and Tru Pizza.
All events are free for all ages, 21+ to drink.
